Boric acid (H₃BO₃) is soluble in water, albeit to a limited extent. It dissolves better in hot water than in cold water. Boric acid can also dissolve in alcohol, particularly in ethanol and methanol. However, it is not considered soluble in oils and nonpolar solvents. It is commonly used in various applications, including as an insecticide, antiseptic, and as a pH buffer in swimming pools.
