In our research study titled "The Effects of Social Media Usage on Students' Academic Performance at Primary Schools in the Lawra Municipality," we targeted a specific sample population that reflects the diversity and dynamics of the local educational context. Our sample included students from various primary schools within the Lawra Municipality, encompassing both urban and rural settings to provide a holistic view of social media's impact. We selected a mixed-methods approach to ensure comprehensive data collection, which included both quantifiable and qualitative measures. The quantitative aspect involved a stratified random sampling of 300 students from different grades, ensuring representation across various age groups, academic abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds. This diversity allowed us to analyze how social media usage varied among students and its correlation with their academic performance. Alongside students, we also included input from teachers and parents through surveys and interviews. This multi-faceted approach provided insights into the broader context of social media's influence, capturing perspectives from educators who assess academic performance and parents who monitor their children's social media habits. To deepen our understanding, we categorized social media usage into different types, such as academic-related platforms and entertainment-focused applications. By examining these distinctions, we aimed to decipher whether certain social media interactions facilitate academic success or contribute to distractions. Ultimately, our sample population focused on both direct and indirect stakeholders in the education system, allowing us to assess not only the direct academic outcomes but also the social and psychological dimensions of students' engagement with social media. This comprehensive sampling strategy is instrumental in drawing informed conclusions about the implications of social media on the academic performance of primary school students in the Lawra Municipality.
