Environmental concern plays a pivotal role in shaping green packaging consumption behavior among consumers in Ghana. As awareness about environmental degradation heightens, Ghanaians are increasingly scrutinizing packaging materials. Studies indicate that consumers are more inclined to support products characterized by sustainable packaging, which they perceive as a reflection of their values and commitment to environmental preservation (Mishra & Sharma, 2021). This shift in consumer behavior can be attributed to the cultural emphasis on communal and environmental stewardship, where individuals feel a collective responsibility towards sustainable practices. Furthermore, environmental education campaigns have significantly influenced consumer perceptions. Initiatives aimed at promoting awareness about issues such as plastic waste and its impact on marine life have prompted many Ghanaians to opt for products with eco-friendly packaging solutions (Osman et al., 2020). This trend is compounded by the rise of social media, which amplifies discussions surrounding sustainability practices, thus driving demand for greener packaging alternatives. However, challenges remain. The higher cost of eco-friendly packaging materials can deter some consumers, especially in economically strained contexts where affordability is a primary concern (Asumadu-Sarkodie & Owusu, 2021).
