A poem that describes the things that Trojan women went though and seen

**The Lament of the Trojan Women** In the shadow of a dying flame, Where once stood glory, now but shame, The cries of mothers haunt the night, As dawn unveils a world of blight. With tresses torn and spirits frayed, Beside the ruins, the mourners laid, Cloaks of sorrow draped on skin, The ghosts of laughter buried within. Hecuba weeps, a queen displaced, Her throne now lost, her heart erased. In quiet despair, she gathers her kin, Veils of anguish, where joy had been. Cassandra, cursed, her warnings fell, On deafened ears of a city’s shell, “Beware the gift!” she cried in vein, Yet watched her kin dance, bound in chains. And Polyxena, youthful and bright, Welcomed death in the dying light, A sacrifice, a life unclaimed, Love and hope in blood, unnamed. The rumble of feet, the clang of steel, As captors tread on the bones they seal, Their children lost, their lives unmade, Dreams like ashes by flames displayed. From lofty towers, the stars retreat, As hands once held now lie in defeat, Each face a story, each tear a plea, In the silence of the fallen sea. And when the winds of fate conspire, To lift their voices, rise higher, The Trojan women will not be swept, In the fables of sorrow, their honor kept. So let the world remember their plight, The strength dans duress and purpose bright, For in their mourning, a legacy weaves, Of love, of loss, and the hope that believes.
