**HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT-HARCOURT TEACHING AND DEMONSTRATION FARM** The University of Port-Harcourt Teaching and Demonstration Farm was established in 2007 by the Agricultural Research Institute, under the management of the Faculty of Agriculture, on land previously designated for a botanical garden. This area has been transformed into a space for teaching, learning, research, and demonstration, allowing students from the Faculty of Agriculture and other disciplines to gain hands-on experience. The farm officially commenced operations with the creation of the crop section, followed by the establishment of a forestry nursery in the same year. In 2008, the poultry and aquaculture sections were initiated, with the aquaculture section utilizing a movable pond system. By 2012, the farm expanded to include a rabbitry and a unit for grasscutter production, which were fully established. In 2014, the aquaculture center underwent an expansion into a more advanced facility for production. Currently, the farm encompasses all five departments: Crop and Soil Science, Forestry and Wildlife, Animal Science, Fisheries, and Agricultural Economics and Extension. The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. I. Etela, oversees and approves all farm activities. A team of farm workers and attendants is appointed to manage daily operations under the guidance of the Chief Farm Officer. The organizational structure of the farm is illustrated in Figure 1 below.
