This unit focuses on growing both crops and ornamental plants, guiding the cultivation and care of these varieties until they reach maturity for harvest. It also explores the structural characteristics of these plants, taking into account the various cultivation techniques, their life cycles, maintenance needs, and different applications. During my industrial training period, I had the opportunity to cultivate cassava, maize, and West Indian jasmine (an ornamental plant). I intercropped these species to maximize the benefits of each. The agronomic practices I implemented included:
- Site selection
- Land preparation
- Planting
- Fertilizer application
- Maintenance/upkeep
- Harvesting
This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of plant cultivation and the intricacies involved in sustainable agricultural practices.
